Our 15th Annual Heart & Soul Walk was indeed a wonderful event. The weather was perfect! About 80 friends with and four dogs enjoyed a relaxing walk and the companionship. The age ranged from 80 years to 15 months (Ravi and Chanda’s granddaughter, baby Layla!). After enduring the social isolation of the pandemic for the past 18 months, this event provided a much needed relief and joy.
A special message from Dr. Vikas Amte from Anandwan addressed to all of us reminded us of Baba Amte’s life and work which was the inspiration that launched the H&S Walk in 2007. He remembered fondly when he joined us for our walk one year. Participation of our partners from NOVA (Kelly Persons and Jackie Bassett) was very much appreciated. Tedwina Kallon, whose Nursing education at NOVA has been supported by RIU also joined us for the walk. Her heartfelt remarks capturing her hard work, determination and appreciation of the support from all of you was a highlight of the event. It exemplified the concrete impact of the activities of REACH IN US.
